PST gets its name from rich, purple Petite Sirah combined with the strong Tempranillo, both "signature" grapes from our vineyard "estate". By blending Petit Sirah (60%) with the Tempranillo (40%), we were able to add a more distinctive finish and complexity to the wine (when compared to the 100% Tempranillo). Complexity is also added with 3 different clones of Petite-Sirah (including Duriff) and by blending in some PS from our friend's vineyard (Don's) in Valley Center, the neighboring town. The wine is dark, rich and has that distinctive Tempranillo flavor with a nice finish. Aged in French and American oak barrels for over one year, the wine has been developing a nice "bouquet" in the bottle and is beginning to mellow. It is full bodied and will accompany meat and cheese very well. Our hope is that this could develop into a "real winner" with age. (The picture above is Bluey staring at the Tempranillo grapes.)
